Auvik pulls data from sources like CDP, LLDP, and forwarding tables to meticulously model the Layer 1 network diagram. We are a Managed Service Provider and use this to manage networks for several of our larger customers. We use it to create documentation, and provide information on the network. Our external NOC also uses it for management and it is Integrated with our Professional Services Automation tool (autotask). We also use it for traffic analysis.
  • Captures alerts over a LONG period of time (as long as the agent is installed)
  • Excellent ability to drill down on Traffic data
  • Inventory of assets, both network components and and all connected devices
  • Visual Map alerts
  • Ability to export data
  • The reporting is not great and needs improvement. Much data, but not as useable in native format as it could be
  • There have been issues with exporting data into Power BI in multi-site locations
  • Multi-site location functionality and mapping could be better
It's been great for the discovery of a network. We like that there is a good ability to drill down on traffic data as well. We've used this to understand what apps are consuming bandwidth when there are reports of a "slow network". Note that this feature is only available in the "Performance Agent" upgrade, but we use this frequently.

We currently use Auvik to monitor network traffic throughout our district. Before Auvik, we were made aware of outages by users when they had no connectivity. Now with Auvik, we can get in front of issues and give our users a better experience. This has been a game-changer in our eyes!
  • The interface is excellent.
  • Technical support is always helpful.
  • Training portal is a great help.
  • Purchasing the product could be easier.
  • More integration with platforms such as Slack.
  • More exposure at conferences and showcases.
One of the scenarios we find very helpful is downtime monitoring on our network. If we are to have a power outage, Auvik notifies us right away. Without Auvik we would have to wait for users to let us know that they are having issues. This definitely puts us behind the eight ball to fix the issues we are having. Or in this case to monitor equipment coming back online.

We use Auvik to onboard customers and provide managed monitoring and alerting for them. The scope will likely remain focused on network devices (routers, switches, firewalls), but we are also interested in addressing wifi access points, F5 load balancers, and VMWare infrastructure.
  • Auvik is the big pic tool of choice for network diagramming, helps layout of our network infrastructure, and we'll know immediately the status of the devices that are successfully communicating, and those that may have, for example, credentials issues.
  • Auvik's "Traffic Insights" are key accelerators for intuitively isolating and resolving traffic-related issues quickly and easily, and the historical information makes it simpler to deduce what aspects may need replacement, capacity improvement, or possibly even re-architecture.
  • Auvik integration tools are excellent solution enhancers - that are of particular interest to our company, as we make use of MS Teams and Connectwise products; we would like to see some features to integrate to ServiceNow as well.
  • Would love to see a tool to help clarify potential license cost savings, and how licenses costs are allocated to devices that are onboarded and actively monitored.
  • We'd like to see integration with ServiceNow change management and ticketing system, this will simplify addressing of various types of alerting.
  • We'd like to see more Power BI dashboard and reporting templates.
  • Support for Hyper-v environments would also be helpful.
- Well suited for dynamic network layout documentation, quick network device onboarding, device configuration management, and certain types of integrations into notification channel systems - May need improvement in a license cost assessment

Auvik has been very helpful for us by gathering information about our network and improving performance across the board. It is very useful when diagnosing issues and/or looking for particular devices. Another way it has been useful for us is by providing information for network upgrades because it shows everything you'll ever need about your network, VLAN's, Interface names, Devices, VPN Tunnels, ETC.
  • Network Discovery
  • Network Documention
  • Network Device Config Backups
  • Possibly an easier way to view devices
  • Easier way to edit mass devices
  • An easier way to export selected devices
Auvik alerts are very helpful when being notified about network outages, UPS alerts, power outages, and firmware changes. The one application that Auvik is not well suited is for specific WMI alerts such as Exchange message queue's, Microsoft exchange transport service alerts, really any critical performance alerts that affect services.

Auvik allows our MSP to get alerts on our customer's networks in real-time. This allows us to be ahead of problems that may arise during and after business hours. Auvik also helps us out by backing up switch configurations, firewall configurations, and disk failures if the device supports SNMP and SSH.
  • Quick Support
  • Multi Tennant
  • Knowledge base
  • Alert/Log History
Auvik has helped us discover switches in a network that no one remembered existed. Auvik creates and updates the network map which is helpful when multiple vendors are working on one single customer. I wish Auvik had the ability to run in offline environments that don't have internet access.

We use Auvik to manage and monitor our client environments as an MSP. Auvik allows us quickly receive alerts for any items that should be addressed promptly. It will enable our technical staff to identify and remediate any issues that may arise.
  • Device alerting and self healing/remediation.
  • Drill down into network issues.
  • Assists with new customer onboardings by helping identify all online devices.
  • More robust sys logging
  • Scheduled network device config backups
We recently suffered several days of power outages in our city. Auvik helped us prioritize the clients that needed support immediately if they were not entirely down due to power outages. We received several hundred alerts in a short amount of time, and Auvik helped us remediate quickly while keeping response times low.

We deploy Auvik virtual appliances at many of our clients, which we support with IT services. If there are any network issues at any time of the day, we use Auvik to monitor that and send us alerts so we're aware right away. We can find device information and network information efficiently to quickly diagnose what can be causing network disruptions to remediate interruptions in service.
  • Excellent visual topology.
  • Real-time monitoring.
  • Device Information/categorization.
  • Can be slow to use. With larger environments, it can take a while to move around.
  • Not always the correct topology. Devices can show up in a completely different location than where they actually are on the network.
Let's say we get a report from users in an office that their internet stops working, and multiple users report this. I will use Auvik to see which devices are down. I can work my way through a network to see which devices are down, how long they've been down, and if it's a power issue or a network issue. I can see which interfaces on network equipment are up, and even remote into devices through Auvik if necessary.
